VISITING CORONADO?
HERE ARE SOME TRAVEL TIPS OR THINGS WE CONSIDER YOU NEED TO KNOW
Weather.
Even though we have an amazing weather most of the year (average temperature is 70 degrees, average rainfall 10 inches) it really never hurts to double check.
Driving?
Traffic on the Coronado can get a little congested during early morning/late afternoon rush hours and weekends. Summer time traffic is very heavy June through Labor Day. During this time of year, just be prepared and allow additional travel time.
The speed limit is 25 mph on the island to ensure safety with cyclists who also share the roads.
If you are flying in and planning to stay in the area, without a tight schedule to attend, do not plan a rental. Everything is pretty much within walking distance and transportation to downtown San Diego very accessible.
Public Transportation
You will find easy access and consistent schedules on local routes that will take you to the Ferry Landing area (route 904) or Downtown San Diego (route 901), most of the stops if not all of them are located along Orange Ave. and Third Ave.
If you feel like being adventures and trying something different a 15 minute ferry or water taxi ride is available to and from Downtown San Diego.
Sun, Sand, Sea
North Beach is the only dog friendly beach in the area; you will find lifeguards on duty daily from 9:00 am to dusk year-round.
If you are wondering of what is the perfect time to enjoy the amazing sunsets of Crown City, we would say it usually is around 7:30PM during the summertime.
Be aware! Smoking is banned outdoors in the city of Coronado which includes public places including Coronado’s beaches and parks; unless it is private property and approved by the business owner.
The most important thing…
Enjoy your time off or vacation, Coronado is an ideal location to relax, spend some quality time in family, with your companion or yourself.
